“When I was a little girl, I loved to watch the generations of women in my family knit. It made them happy and I wanted to be part of that.”

Sarah Oliver
Sarah Oliver is an unconventional artist whose unique handbag designs are born from the time-honored tradition of the knitting circle – and guided by her modern and eclectic vision.
With no intention of starting a business, Sarah used to hand knit every stitch of the whimsical handbags she once created simply as gifts for friends and family. Today, this stylish line of one-of-a-kind bags is still handmade by Sarah. But, she has recruited a mighty band of ageless knitters – the residents of The Redwoods Senior Retirement Community – to help her produce a coveted collection of wearable art.
With the help of “The Purlettes,” as they’ve been christened by the press, this passionate knitter-turned-designer is now able to share her creations with the world – and feed a growing appetite for sarah oliver handbags.
Sarah lives in Mill Valley with her husband and two children. That happiness she witnessed as a little girl? It’s now hers. Made even sweeter – one hand knit bag at a time.
